Dedo Babo Restaurant
About Dedo Babo Restaurant.
We visited in person: this used to be the Monument tavern in Kanaker-Zeytun, and only the menu survived the change. The new name suits it: big gazebos for a group with a view of Mother Armenia, good khorovats and wine, and above all a fair balance of price and quality. It sits by the road, yet feels like a seaside cafe at your grandparents' friends' place. About 5000 AMD per person. Karina-jan, the owner, welcomes you the way that makes you stay and talk. We're coming back with friends.
Dedo Babo sits on Karapet Ulnetsi in Kanaker, anchored by what reads as a family operation. The menu is Armenian fundamentals—grilled meats, khash, lula, lahmacun—executed without fuss. Ambiance is modest, built around a local clientele who return for consistency rather than spectacle. Around 4500 AMD per head covers a full meal with drink. The space feels lived-in; suited to travellers seeking neighbourhood authenticity and people who want meat-forward plates without pretension. Service moves at a practical pace—not rushed, not leisurely.
